After an abortion... how long until you get your period again?

Its been three weeks almost four after the abortion i had hardly any bleeding ..... i still havnt gotten my period is this normal? I want to start birth controll but i have to wait untill my first period. Any experienced advise would be nice i will report any harrasement about this!After an abortion... how long until you get your period again?
Your body needs to get back on track. It goes thru certain steps when you are pregnant that need to go thru a reversal process. You still have pregnant "hormones" in your body for a bit. You should not be having sex for a bit after an abortion due to it could cause a serious infection. I would give it another couple weeks... waiting sucks but be xtra careful until you get birth control in system after abortion/miscarriage your reproductive system is more fertile than ever and I know you do not want to go thru that again.
You will probably skip a cycle .
It can take up to 8 weeks after an abortion to get back to a normal cycle. If you haven't had unprotected sex since your abortion you can start your birth control now and you'll be protected after a week.
I experienced the same thing, after my abortion I hardly had any bleeding at all, 4 weeks went by and i still did not see my period, during this time a made an appointment for a follow -up, The day of the appointment(1 week later) I started my period, my doctor stated me on a chewable birth control pill called FEMCON Fe, this was 3/4/07 and I have not noticed any side effects yet from the pill
